Digital Dentistry: What Have We Learned and Where to from Here?
Innovations in dentistry, particularly those related to digital innovations, are presented in this lecture. Indications for digital design and CAD/CAM systems, including single tooth restorations, fixed dental prostheses, and complete dentures are discussed. Advantages and disadvantages of the different materials used for CAD/CAM processing are listed. The need for continuous training and communication for both the clinician and the dental technician is a theme throughout the lecture.
The lecture concludes with an interesting discussion of future trends, including the use of 3D printing in dentistry, alternative uses for digital scanners, and business trends associated with digital dentistry.
