Implant Placement and Loading Protocols: What Is Predictable?
This lecture gives an overview of the findings of the 6th ITI Consensus Conference in 2018 on the topic of implant placement and loading protocols in partially edentulous patients. It provides an overview of the evidence for the clinical outcome of fixed implant prostheses treated with different combinations of implant placement and loading protocols in partially edentulous patients. As the selected loading protocol appears to influence the outcome of immediate implant placement, the lecture describes nine possible combinations of placement and loading protocols and the resulting new ITI classification that allows for individual outcome assessment for each treatment protocol based on its level of scientific and clinical validation or documentation respectively. In addition, clinical cases are shown that illustrate the different combinations of placement and loading protocols.
At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…
discuss the ITI’s classification of nine combinations of implant placement and loading protocols and their level of scientific and clinical validation or documentation respectively
recognize the influence of the different combined placement and loading protocols on the long-term outcome of implant treatment
discuss whether implant-prosthodontic survival and success differ in partially edentulous patients with immediate or early placement and loading protocols when compared to conventional protocols
