About the Scholarship Center

About the Scholarship Center

At the Scholarship Center teaching is provided at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and there is also a Specialist Clinic dedicated to periodontology and implant dentistry. The Specialist Clinic is staffed primarily with specialists in periodontology, a few general practitioners with a focus on periodontology, and dental hygienists. Patients with varying degrees of periodontal disease receive treatment including conservative, reconstructive, and regenerative periodontal procedures, on a referral basis. After getting their periodontitis under control, patients often receive also implant therapy. Depending on the referral, the surgical part – including bone augmentation, if needed – may be performed in the Specialist Clinic, while the prosthetic part is commonly performed at the referring clinic; in several instances, however, the prosthetic part is also done at the university clinic.
Weekly seminars/journal clubs take place, occasionally in collaboration with other disciplines within the faculty and/or collaborating centers. The seminars often host international speakers, while sometimes are prepared by the postgraduate students.

The ITI Scholar can take advantage of all activities and the center promotes knowledge exchange and collaboration, so that the scholar can get the most out of the scholarship year. Specifically, depending on the ITI Scholar’s background and wishes, it will be possible to participate in the following clinical activities:
