Luis Mezzomo, DDS, PhD, graduated in Dentistry at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2003. Dr. Mezzomo did this training in Prosthodontics at the Lutheran University of Brazil from 2004 to 2007. In 2008, he was granted the ITI Scholarship with Prof. Nikolaos Donos at the Eastman Dental Institute (London), and he completed his Implant Fellowship the following year. In 2010, he was granted a PhD in Prosthodontics for studies in Alveolar Ridge Preservation (ARP).

Dr. Mezzomo was an Adjunct Professor of Prosthodontics of the Department of Dentistry, Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, from 2013 to 2023. He had students under his mentoring running their MSc and PhD Degrees in Prosthodontics. Dr. Mezzomo was the Principal Investigator of an ITI-Funded clinical trial on extra-short Straumann dental implants.

Dr. Mezzomo is a Clinical Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Predoctoral Implant Clinic at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry.

He has over than 60 published articles, 26 out of them in international peer-reviewed journals. He collaborates with Queen Mary’s University of London, Semmelweis University (Budapest), University of Florida (Gainesville), Istanbul Okan University, and the University of Sao Paulo.

Dr.
Mezzomo is a Fellow and Speaker of the
International Team for Implantology. He is also a member of the ITI Board of Studies, aiming at developing the ITI Diploma Program. Dr. Mezzomo lectures nationally and internationally, focusing on the topics “Short Dental Implants” and “Digital Workflow for the Edentulous Patient”.

Above all, Dr. Mezzomo is a clinician and practices at his private practice, treating complex patients with surgical or prosthetic needs that involve dental implants.

Dr. Mezzomo is a sports-driven person, focused on welfare and healthy activities like running. He is married to his wife Paula, and they both enjoy spending time with their beloved daughter Laura.
