Entry into Digital Dentistry
The future of dentistry is inevitably digital. In this lecture the speaker discusses the differences between analog vs. digital techniques and provides an overview of a typical digital workflow. She discusses how an ideal scanner should have superior scanning technologies and be accurate, precise, easy to use, fast and provide real color and shade measurement. She emphasizes that digital workflows can be incorporated in daily practice; however, their use should always be based on needs to suit one’s style of practice.
The speaker also discusses the use, advantages and disadvantages of digital dentistry and provides an overview of her experience with digital scanning from diagnostic treatment planning to impressions, followed by prosthesis construction to implant treatment. She concludes with a comparison of digital vs. analog labor costs and a rundown of a single-unit implant crown.
