Guided Bone Regeneration: Decision-Making in Clinical Practice
This lecture focuses on the decision-making process in clinical practice regarding guided bone regeneration in postextraction sites. Preoperative risk assessment is the key in successful and predictable implant dentistry. It involves evaluating the esthetic demands of the patient, socket integrity, gingival phenotype, facial bone wall phenotype, and the potential for recession at the end of treatment. Based on two clinical cases, the presenter shows the preoperative assessment step-by-step, together with evidence-based literature. Different aspects of the preoperative situation can modulate treatment planning, which is a dynamic process. By structuring the preoperative analysis, more predictable results can be obtained.
