Teeth vs. Implants – a Question of Sustainability
This lecture discusses the long-term prognosis of both implants and teeth. Are implants better or worse in terms of survival compared to teeth? How is treatment success defined for an implant? What is the difference between a tooth and an implant? What are the prognostic factors for tooth survival? The main objective of this lecture is to gain an understanding of the existing evidence on oral implants and their long-term success compared to that of the natural dentition. The lecture also describes the type of constructions and treatment planning that would present long-term success based on existing literature.
At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…
- explain the similarities and differences between a tooth and an implant in terms of long-term survival
- recognize the factors for clinically acceptable success
