Implant Restorations: Can We Leave Castings Behind?
Often the surgeon is blamed for placing the implant in a suboptimal position. However, the restorative dentist usually has the final say over the outcome and ensuing maintenance issues that can occur if a prosthesis is not biologically sensitive. This presentation addresses and reviews the current and traditional methods of prosthesis design and highlights techniques that should be avoided when restoring dental implants. The advantages gained by using newer materials and techniques to achieve optimal prosthetic outcomes are also presented.
At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…
- understand the technical limitations of conventionally fabricated castings
- understand the advantages of CAD/CAM techniques
- recognize that CAD/CAM techniques offer prosthetic materials with improved esthetics
