Late Placement of an Implant in a Maxillary Left Central Incisor Site
A 36-year-old female patient was referred for the replacement of the upper left central incisor (tooth 21), which had fractured. Although the tooth had been asymptomatic for many years, the crown began to loosen, at which time she presented to her dentist for an assessment. Teeth 21 and 22 had both been endodontically treated many years previously. She was a healthy individual and a non-smoker.
On examination, the patient had a low lip line and only displayed the coronal half of the anterior teeth when smiling.
The crown of tooth 21 was splinted to the adjacent teeth with composite resin, and the gingiva was inflamed.
